“Ye kho te veṭhamissena,
People who act harshly—

nānattena ca kammunā;
attacking people,

Manusse uparundhanti,
binding them with rope,
1.4
pharusūpakkamā janā;
hurting them in all kinds of ways—

Tepi tattheva kīranti,
they’re treated in the same way;
1.6
na hi kammaṁ panassati.
their deeds don’t vanish.

Yaṁ karoti naro kammaṁ,
Whatever deeds a person does,
2.2
Kalyāṇaṁ yadi pāpakaṁ;
whether good or bad,
2.3
Tassa tasseva dāyādo,
they are the heir to each
2.4
Yaṁ yaṁ kammaṁ pakubbatī”ti.
and every deed they do.
