“Sare hatthehi bhañjitvā,
I broke the reeds off with my hands,

made a hut, and stayed there.

Tena me sarabhaṅgoti,
That’s how I became known

nāmaṁ sammutiyā ahu.

Na mayhaṁ kappate ajja,
But now it’s not appropriate

Tenañjasena agamāsi gotamo.
Kakusandha, Koṇāgamana, and Kassapa.

Vītataṇhā anādānā,
These seven Buddhas have plunged into the ending,

satta buddhā khayogadhā;
free of craving, without grasping,
5.3
Yehāyaṁ desito dhammo,
having become Dhamma, unaffected.
5.4
dhammabhūtehi tādibhi.
They have taught this Dhamma
6.1
Cattāri ariyasaccāni,
out of compassion for living creatures—
6.2
anukampāya pāṇinaṁ;
suffering, origin, path,
6.3
Dukkhaṁ samudayo maggo,
and cessation, the ending of suffering.
6.4
nirodho dukkhasaṅkhayo.
In these four noble truths,
7.1
Yasmiṁ nivattate dukkhaṁ,
the endless suffering of transmigration
7.2
saṁsārasmiṁ anantakaṁ;
finally comes to an end.
7.3
Bhedā imassa kāyassa,
When the body breaks up,
7.4
jīvitassa ca saṅkhayā;
and life comes to an end,
7.5
Añño punabbhavo natthi,
there are no future lives;
7.6
suvimuttomhi sabbadhī”ti.
I’m everywhere well freed.

Sattakanipāto niṭṭhito.

Sundarasamuddo thero,

thero lakuṇḍabhaddiyo;

Bhaddo thero ca sopāko,

Sattake pañcakā therā,
