Guttā, you have given up your child,

mā cittassa vasaṁ gami.
do not fall under the mind’s control.

Cittena vañcitā sattā,
Beings deceived by the mind,

mārassa visaye ratā;
playing in Māra’s domain,

Anekajātisaṁsāraṁ,
ignorant, they journey on,

sandhāvanti aviddasū.

Kāmacchandañca byāpādaṁ,

and substantialist view;

O nun, when you have given up

pajahitvāna bhikkhunī;
these lower fetters,

Orambhāgamanīyāni,
you won’t come back

nayidaṁ punarehisi.
to this world again.

Rāgaṁ mānaṁ avijjañca,
And when you’re rid of desire,

uddhaccañca vivajjiya;
conceit, ignorance, and restlessness,
5.3
Saṁyojanāni chetvāna,
having cut the fetters,
5.4
dukkhassantaṁ karissasi.
you’ll make an end to suffering.

Khepetvā jātisaṁsāraṁ,
Having wiped out transmigration,
6.2
pariññāya punabbhavaṁ;
and fully understood rebirth,
6.3
Diṭṭheva dhamme nicchātā,
hungerless in this very life,
6.4
upasantā carissatī”ti.
you will live at peace.
