who harms other creatures:

Asmā lokā paramhā ca,
that person will fall

both from this world and the next.

Yo ca mettena cittena,
But someone with a mind of love,

sabbapāṇānukampati;
sympathetic for all creatures:

Bahuñhi so pasavati,

puññaṁ tādisako naro.
brims with much merit.

Subhāsitassa sikkhetha,
You should all train <j>to learn well-spoken words,

samaṇūpāsanassa ca;
to attend closely to ascetics,

Ekāsanassa ca raho,
to sit alone in hidden places,

cittavūpasamassa cā”ti.
